Kunbis who are part of the OBC category primarily engage in agriculture. Jarange sought data for 37 lakh Kunbi certificates and has been pushing for Kunbi certificates for all individuals within the Maratha community.
In a recent development Jarange has requested the state government revise its free education policy to cover all Marathas until reservation benefits are extended to the entire community.
This announcement was made at Vashi in Navi Mumbai where Jarange accompanied by thousands of supporters camped overnight after arriving on Friday morning.
On Saturday Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange called off his protest stating that the Maharashtra government led by Eknath Shinde has accepted his demands.
He expressed satisfaction that the government has issued a notification to provide Kunbi caste certificates to all relatives of Marathas whose records are linked to the Kunbi caste.
